2026 Start of School

Dear Students and Families of Alexandria Senior High School,

As you may have heard, during some of the school improvement construction projects taking place at ASH, there was an unintentional release of asbestos fibers. When this happens, it has the potential to create an unsafe learning and working environment for our students and employees. Since this issue was discovered, our facilities department has been working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency  and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to ensure all appropriate safety and remediation standards are addressed. We continue to work with the architects and contractors to get the campus ready to receive students and staff.

However, the campus will not be ready to open for the start of school on August 7.

 Therefore, all students enrolled at ASH will start the 2026-2027 school year virtually. 

At this point we expect this delay to last at least a few weeks. Each Friday afternoon, we will provide routine updates as we receive them from the other entities involved. 

Our teachers and administrators will be working diligently to make sure all students have access to instructional programming virtually. School leaders will be sending out specific instructions for picking up Chromebooks, schedules, and other information needed for a successful start. 

While we know this is not ideal, we ask for patience as our teams work to support this start of the school year.
